SIXTH EVENING OF MIRACLES FEATURING RANDY BACHMAN

On June 9th, 2015, at Toronto's landmark Koerner Hall, the CFIGDCB hosted one of its most successful events in its history. The featured guest was legendary Canadian Rock n' Roll star Randy Bachman. He performed for nearly 2 hours, sharing fascinating musical anecdotes interspersed between a selection of some of Canada's most well known and loved rock songs from the 60s 70s and 80s.

Although Randy Bachman was the main attraction, the capacity crowd of almost 700 people was also treated to a special presentation by Bracha Ben Avraham and Dinka her guide dog who flew in from Israel to attend this special event.

"Dinka, my second guide dog, is my constant companion," Bracha told the audience. She is a reminder of who I am, and the independent person I want to be. I am proud of her, proud of the empowerment that she gives me. Thank you for all the support you have given us in the past, and for your continued support in the future that will enable the Israel Guide Dog Centre for the Blind continue its important life-changing work."

Bracha, a gifted musician and writer, was joined on stage by her old music partner Toronto singer/guitarist Ted Cooper, for an on stage reunion. Tighter they performed "Suki's Song", a moving piece, composed by Bracha, in memory of her first guide dog Suki.

Bracha was joined from Israel by Noach Braun, our Director and Co-Founder, whose vision and commitment to the cause of helping blind people were inspiring as ever.

The Evening of Miracles was very ably chaired by Caryn and Philip Ladovsky and honourary chairs Carol Mitchell and Richard Venn. They did an outstanding job of moving the evening's proceedings along smoothly and efficiently with touches of both eloquence and humor.

As always, our indefatigable Executive Director, Sara Gabriel, assisted by her dedicated committee, was behind the scenes making sure the evening's events unfolded without a hitch.

The event exceeded our goals for "friend-raising," as we attracted our largest audience ever, as well as our fundraising goals, helping us raise almost $400,000, also our largest single year total ever.

Thank you to everyone who attended and our supporters who made the 6th Annual Evening of Miracles such a huge success. We hope to see you all next year!

Sponsor a future guide dog and help us to provide the love and support that is so crucial during the first year of a puppy’s life. The cost to raise a puppy is $1000, which includes all of their food, toys and immunizations. We see to it that the puppies are raised in a nurturing and enriched environment to prepare them for the important work that they will do. In less than two years, these amazing animals will make a profound difference in the life of someone who is visually impaired.
